El Yunque, a fascinating place to discover

Its name, Yunque, comes from the word "Yuquiyú", a name used by the Taino Indians to call the god of good, which they considered to live in the forest. Currently, El Yunque is protected by UNESCO due to its natural wealth. However, it is open to anyone who wants to get to know it and live an unforgettable natural experience.

Its surface is rich in silica and alumina. It can be said that it rains daily with short but very intense rainfall. As for its temperature, it is usually between 64 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (18 to 25 Celsius) depending on the height of each of its zones. Also, due to its temperate climate and constant downpours, most of the animals that inhabit this place are small, specifically reptiles and amphibians. If you like rivers, it is worth noting that 11 of Puerto Rico's rivers are born here.
